I hope to be the shining light in the dark world of thinspo, unhealthy advice and incorrect information. Life is about being happy and loving yourself, and that includes your body. Feed it with the foods it loves, let it run free, treat it to a nice dinner and some wine every now and again and your body will take care of you too. <3

I bet you’ve stumbled across a word or abbreviation that made no sense at all when reading health articles at least once or twice.
When you want to change your lifestyle into a healthier more active one, seeking out information is often what you start with. Finding out what’s right and wrong is not easy, but it’s impossible if you don’t even know half the words.
I’ve made a little ‘Fitness Dictionary’ so you can learn the lingo!

Good reminder that every expert started out as an amateur

“I have been eating healthy and working out for about four weeks now. Honestly, it feels fantastic! I'm in a better mood, being less tired and more awake. But I can't say that I've gotten any results yet. Obviously, I see results, but not physically. I work out every day of the week except friday, both cardio and strength. Also, I do yoga on sundays. I want to lose some weight and get toned... How long do you think it will take until i get some results?”

Everybody’s body is different. You’ve got to give it time. There are any variables that could be going into this. Are you eating clean? HOW do you workout? (see FAQ for altering body composition) How often are you eating? Are you eating enough? Where’s your metabolism? etc.

And my most favorite - How are you measuring results? That number on your scale? Don’t mean a thing. Try actual measurements (neck, chest, arms, waist, hips, thigh, calf, etc). Pictures are another great one. You may not see your physical results personally. People tend to not notice gradual changes in themselves. Pictures and measurements are the best way to see this.

“Hello! I know you get these questions often, but I'm at a loss. I've been trying to lose some weight for about two months now, but my weight isn't budging. I eat enough of my healthy calories, I work out for an hour six days a week, and I get 8 hours of sleep every night. I'm frustrated that I'm not losing weight and my body doesn't look any different! What should I do differently?”
-Anonymous

Weight usually doesn’t mean shit. It’s a number that doesn’t take muscle or water into account. Did you take measurements, Body fat percentage or pictures? Those are the real ways to find out if you’re getting results. You see your body every day. It’s hard to tell if you’re changing when you see it all the time and it’s gradual. For example, my friends thing my hair got SOOOOOOOOO long but to me, it just feels like my regular hair I’ve had for ages. Doesn’t feel any longer than it used to because I’m with my hair everyday and I’m used to the gradual change of it all.

Also are you working out correctly? (see FAQ for altering body composition). If you’re just running on the treadmill for an hour, it may take longer for you to see results. Lifting s going to get you better and faster results and trust me you wont bulk up, that’s a common myth.

Good luck, love!! :)
