Raise Awareness

Eating disorders are not a trend or to get attention.

Eating disorders are actual diseases that are very serious and need medical and psychological attention.

this is a forever reblog.

Have you heard of the song It's Amazing by Jem?.... The lyrics reminded me of this blog :3

No I hadn’t, and I JUST listened to it.

Thank yous!! it warms my heart that this song made you think of me! I’m all happy and shiet! :P

For any curious critters out there HERE is the song.

High school, it seems, has changed. It has become competitive. Young men and women — 13 to 18 years old — must work more or less tirelessly to ensure their spot at a college deemed worthy to them and their families. So rather than living their adolescent lives — lives brimming with desires and vitality, with vim, vigor, and brewing lust — these kids are working at old age homes, cramming for tests, popping Adderall just to make the literal and proverbial grade. And for what? So they can go to a school that puts them in debt for the rest of their lives. School has become a great vehicle of capitalism: it quashes the revolution implicit in adolescence while simultaneously fomenting perpetual indebtedness.

Hi guys! I wanted to inform you about this great thing that is happening!

These smart fellows have devised a way to create cups, straws, mixers, etc that can detect common date rape drugs. This is an amazing idea and it needs funding! The campaign ends in 35 hours and they are a little short on funding. Please, signal boost this or even give a dollar if you can, it’s a great cause and something that will really change the world!

gogogo!

26 hours, people, let’s go!

I thought this was well-covered in the fitblr community, but since I keep seeing posts about this, and I’ve seen people give advice that makes that seem okay, I’m going to try to explain why it’s not. I’ve made this mistake before. I wish people would do a bit more research about what they are doing to their body before they do it, I know I should have.

Why can’t you? Because it is not safe. You need your NET calories to be at least 1200. Net calories are the calories your body actually uses. So, say you eat 1200 and burn 600, you need to eat 600 more to compensate. If your net calories is regularly under 1200, your body will go into starvation mode.

What is starvation mode? Starvation mode is what happens when your body is not getting the minimum amount of calories (1200 is the general rule). Your body will eventually stop dealing with food the way it should. This won’t happen in one day, or even two. But if you make eating less food a habit, you can bet on it. Your body will start to try to protect itself by slowing your metabolism progressively. Also- instead of losing fat, your body will try to store any fat you may take in. Any weight loss you lose on a diet like this will be muscle loss, NOT fat loss. And if you aren’t aware, the more muscle you have- the more efficient your body is at burning fat.

So, if you want to feel sluggish, lose muscle, get weak, store fat, and be over-all unhealthy: keep up what you’re doing.

If you want to lose weight HEALTHILY and effectively, boost your metabolism, and feel better overall: EAT, and eat enough. I know a lot of people have this fear of food that they think intake = fat gain, but that mindset really needs to change.

Think about it like this:

If you fill up your gas tank half-way for a trip that requires a full tank, what would happen?

Your car would use all the fuel, run on empty for a little while, then break down.

Hi so I found out my body burns around 1700 calories a day so I needed a deficit of 500 & ate 1200 calories a day. I lost 8 pounds in a few weeks but now it's been about 3 weeks & I've lost 0 pounds. My body still burns around 1700 calories daily & I'm still eating 1200 calories so I don't know what's going on?
motivationintohabit motivationintohabit Said:

Oh honey, it’s because you’re not eating enough! You lost 8lbs in the beginning because cutting calories like that makes you lose water weight, then your body hold on to everything after that. You can’t workout and eat only 1200 calories. Your body just doesn’t work like that. You need a TOTAL deficit of 500, not calorie deficit. I personally burn AT LEAST 500 calories per workout, and therefore I don’t cut ANY calories from my diet. If you burn 300 then only cut 200. HERE is an article that explains why eating only 1200 calories isn’t enough while working out and may actually in fact be unhealthy for you. I’ll reblog it too since it seems to be a favorite of a lot of people :P Even if that burn of 1700 counts in your exercise, it’s best to eat more and exercise more than cut a bunch of calories. <3

-My strategy; Attempting to eat right, 85% percent of my workout has been from Strength training and 15% is from running so often. With strength training its a mental challenge cause you see big changes in the size of your body but the numbers on the scale drop very slowly and at times even climb, due to muscle mass!

Don’t give up guys you can pull through it!!
