I need some advice. I'm 19 & weigh 158 I workout 6 days a week & do tons of cardio. I recently even got the dcs set insanity! But the problem is I can't loose weight no matter what I do. I eat about 1,400 calories if even that & I've been told to eat more calories because I'm honestly afraid I will gain weight :l. Whats your advice?
Hey hun. :) I got your other message that you’re 5’5” and from your stats your BMR is 1560 calories burnt per day at rest. That means you’ll burn 1560 calories just by laying in bed. If you’re working out a ton like you say, you should definitely be eating more than 1400. You should have a daily deficit of 500 calories to burn the healthy 1 pound per week. So I know I can easily burn 800 calories in a day exercising and I don’t consider that a ton of cardio, but I’m just going to use it as an example. Say you burnt 800 calories on the treadmill. That means you’ve burnt 2360 calories total. So you should be eating 500 less than that. 1860. Your body’s number one source of energy is its food. If it doesn’t get a sufficient amount of food, it goes into shock or “starvation mode” as some like to call it. I don’t like the term starvation mode because you’re technically not actually starving yourself. What happens is when your body depletes its glucose storage (of which fat cells are not) it starts using your muscles for energy and keeping the fat. This decreases your metabolism by a lot. I know it sounds bassackwards but you could possibly end up gaining weight by not eating enough. (I learned that the hard way). Eat enough and your body will run like the well oiled machine that it can be :)
